Jeff Barehand
Storm Heart
Originally off the Navajo reservation, Jeff hails from the great state of Arizona where he spent his formative years. Enrolled a Gila River Pima, he enjoys the blessings of two tribal cultures and hopes to bring more American Indian people to the stage and screen. Jeff had a small role in PBS’ American Experience production of We Shall Remain premiering February 2009, directed by Chris Eyre. He played the role of Eddie Haro, a convicted drug dealer, the lead in MSNBC’s show Conviction that premiered in December 2007, directed by Eric Hunsaker. Jeff also took part in the 2006 Kennedy Center’s New Voices, New Visions Festival where he brought to life the voice of Crazy Horse in Ric Averill’s Dream Carved from Stone, directed by Nancy Halvorson. In 2005, Jeff was cast as Bobby Rabbit, in the Workshop Theatre’s staged reading of Drew Hayden Taylor’s alterNatives in New York City. Jeff has also found parts in Warner Brothers’ The Visiting, HBO’s The Wire and the mini-series John Adams. Jeff has also appeared in television commercials for Volunteers of America and CarMax.
Draper Carter
Junior Johnson
Draper is a trained musician, beginning at the age of ten, and studying at both the College of Southern Maryland and the University of Maryland Baltimore County. After a short hiatus, Draper is returning to the Black Box, after holding the roles as Technical Director for Misery as well as Audio Engineer for Steel Magnolias. After returning to the stage in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas with the Port Tobacco Players, Draper realized that he would like to continue acting, instead of being hidden behind the scenes.
Tom Cauler
Bubbalou Burns
Tom lives and works in Northern Virginia. He was a founding member of the Black Box and played Jim in Pumpboys and Dinettes. He also worked in Same Time Next Year and Last of the Red Hot Lovers at the Black Box, either on stage, or working with the production crew. He has also been in a number of shows with the Port Tobacco Players including 1776, Bye Bye Birdie, Fiddler on the Roof, as well as in The Crucible with the Hard Bargain Players.
Adam Curtis

Adam has a BA in Theater, Film and Media Studies from St. Mary’s College of Maryland. He’s played leads in Hair, The Fantastiks, Suburbia, and The Healing Drink at the Bruce Davis Theater SMCM and appeared in three films at St. Mary’s.
Pete Farnham
Lenny Black
New to acting but not to singing, Pete has been playing guitar and singing for decades. He performed for many years in a praise band at a local church. Several years ago he took the lead in forming a blues and country rock band, Rose Between Thorns, which performs regularly at clubs and private parties in the Washington, DC area. Pete sings backup vocals and occasional leads with the band, and plays several styles of guitar and harmonica. Additionally, he plays banjo and sings with a local bluegrass band called the School Street Ramblers.
KJ Jacks
Little Bird/Laughing Daughter
KJ (Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma) is ecstatic to be in her first production in the Black Box Theatre in the Indian Head Center for the Arts. This has been like a dream collaborating with Roger, Rick, Bill, and Jim to bring these characters to life in an honest and real way. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Music from Colorado State University. Since moving to Washington, DC, she has been an active member in the DC Theater Scene. Favorite roles include Delores Montoya in The Wild Party, (LaChiusa) with Dominion Stage, Ronnette in Little Shop of Horrors with Kensington Arts Theater, Mary Jane Kellie in Yours Truly, Jack the Ripper, and part of Fictitious with Landless Theatre Company, and Jesus Christ Superstar and The Wiz with St. Mark’s Players.
Mike Margelos
Bartender/Thug 1/Ensemble
Mike is making his Black Box debut in Laughing Daughter, although he has been performing in local theatres for the last eleven years. He holds a B.A. in Electronic Media & Film from Towson University, where he also performed in numerous productions.

Crystal’s favorite roles include Cunegonde (Candide), Christine in Maury Yeston’s Phantom, Casilda in The Gondoliers (Dir. Doug Hodge), Anna Glawari in The Merry Widow, Mabel in Pirates of Penzance (Dir.William Wesbrooks), Belinda in Dido and Aeneas, Eurydice in Orpheus in the Underworld (Dir. Martha Collins), Geraldine in Hand of Bridge under the direction of Eric Einhorn, u/s Amber in Hairspray, King David, Ragtime, Titanic and singing “Glitter and Be Gay” with the NYU Symphony Orchestra at the Skirball Center under conductor Joseph Church and John Simpkins (dir). She has appeared onstage at the regional Schoolhouse Theatre on Sanibel Island, Florida as well as working with American Idol alum John Stevens in Buffalo, NY playing Marty in Grease. She has also appeared with the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra as the winner of the Keller Competition. B.M. and M.M. at NYU. Crystal most recently performed in Highmount, NY with the Belleayre Music Festival in Die Fledermaus. Crystal is a proud member of Young Opera Singer’s Initiative. CRYSTALMOSSER.COM.
Natalie Proctor

Natalie (Native American name Standingontherock) is a born member of the Piscataway Tribe and resides in Waldorf, Maryland. She is a member of Spirit Dancers, an educational group that teaches American Indian history through song and dance. Standingontherock has traveled to Poland, Israel and several US states to perform. She has worked for Maryland Public Television, Comcast and New Line Cinema and has recently studied voice-over acting.
Sarah Riggle
Ditzy Tourist/Hooker 2/Ensemble
Sarah is a middle school teacher for Charles County Public Schools and a graduate of Gannon University in Erie, PA. College theatre involved onstage performances of Shakespeare projects and backstage work as a dialect coach, audition coach and costumer. She recently moved from Wooster, Ohio, where she worked with Amarinic Productions, Ashland Summer Theatre Festival and Ohio Light Opera. Favorite roles have been Tzeitel in Fiddler on the Roof (Amarinic), Gymnasia in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (Ashland), and Tattooed Lady in Sweeney Todd (Port Tobacco Players). Sarah is currently an understudy for Port Tobacco Player’s upcoming Angel Street, and plans on thoroughly savoring local theatre during her time in Maryland.
Lynn Thorne
Shopaholic Tourist/Hooker 1/Ensemble
Lynn is proud to be a part of Laughing Daughter and to be on the Black Box stage again, having worked here twice before (Truvy in Steel Magnolias and Godspell). She’s performed all over the Southern Maryland and Northern Virginia areas. Some of her favorite roles include Karen in Dinner with Friends at Hard Bargain, where she won a Best Actress award, and Miss Mona in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas at Port Tobacco Players. When she’s not hogging center stage, Lynn writes for her own marketing firm, Lollipop Copy.
