SYNOPSIS
Laughing Daughter is predominantly a Country Rock Musical depicting the interwoven lives and loves of three very different couples:
Laughing Daughter, a 19 year old Native American girl, possessing a beautiful voice but bored with performing at local shows, harbors a dream of being a star in the Nashville heavens. With her father’s reluctant blessing she leaves the reservation, her father Storm Heart, and Sleeping Raven, her long-time faithful boyfriend to seek fame.
Junior Johnson is a 45 year old singer/songwriter traveling the country performing at a variety of gigs, barely making enough to pay for his accommodation, meals and bar bill. The down-home Jolene, slightly younger, and a dedicated life-long fan, finally decides to declare herself.
Whilst trying to help the inconsolable Sleeping Raven, the divorced Storm Heart, missing his estranged wife Shell Flower for many years, comes to terms with being separated from the two people he loves most.
Laughing Daughter weaves these three loves; their frustrations and their triumphs, into one braided whole, with the songs and melodies of the American Heartland.
... warm, human and touching
